Dr. Pearl Grimes is the Founder and Director of the Vitiligo & Pigmentation Institute of Southern California. She was trained by Dr. John A. Kenney, who was her mentor, friend, a father figure & one of her great heroes. She is a pioneer & a leading international authority on vitiligo & pigmentary disorders. Dr. Grimes is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California – Los Angeles. She has authored more than 175 publications.

She is an active member of multiple professional organizations including: The American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Dermatological Association, Society of Investigative Dermatology, the Dermatology Foundation, International Federation of Pigment Cell Societies, International Peeling Society, Skin of Color Society, & the Women’s Dermatologic Society. Dr. Grimes is the Immediate Past President of the Global Vitiligo Foundation.

Dr. Grimes holds numerous achievements in dermatology. She has been recognized by her peers with the prestigious Dermatology Foundation “Practitioner of the Year” award & the Women’s Dermatologic Society’s “Mentor of the Year” award in 2011. She received the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery President’s Award in 2006. In 2016, she was recognized with an American Skin Association Research Achievement Award. She was also awarded the prestigious 2017 Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award & the 2017 Everett C. Fox, MD Memorial Award & Lectureship Award. In addition, she was the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Skin Association for 2017. Dr. Grimes was the 2021 recipient of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery’s Vic Narurkar Innovation in Aesthetics award & the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Rose Hirschler Award, from the women’s dermatologic Society. She was the recipient of the 2023 Women’s Dermatologic Society’s President’s Award. She recently received the 2023 Richard E. Fitzpatrick, MD Aesthetics Award. She has been included in LA Magazine’s Super Doctors list & the Best Doctors of America list for many years. Dr. Grimes was the recent recipient of the 2025 John Kenney Jr., MD Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Nada Elbuluk is a board-certified dermatologist and Professor of Clinical Dermatology at the USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology.  She currently serves as the founding director of the USC Skin of Color and Pigmentary Disorders Program and research fellowship. She also serves as the Founding Director of the Dermatology Culture and Engagement Program. She previously was director of curriculum equity at Keck School of Medicine. This year she is the 2025-2026 Skin of Color Society President. She also is a board member of the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the Global Vitiligo Foundation.

 Dr. Elbuluk’s clinical and research interests include general medical and cosmetic dermatology, skin of color conditions, pigmentary disorders, and health equity. She has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics and others. She has received several grants to support her research, which has been published in numerous academic peer-reviewed journals and has published nearly two dozen book chapters. She is the co-author of the Taylor and Elbuluk Color Atlas and Synopsis for Skin of Color as well as a section editor for the 3rd edition of the Taylor and Kelly Skin of Color Textbook and the Hocker and Ali Review of Dermatology textbook. Dr. Elbuluk is also a recognized and respected media expert interviewed by numerous media outlets.
